Performing the search
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) may be searched for using any of the following criteria:
Only one search criteria may be used at a time.
To perform your search, choose your search criteria and enter the value you are looking for. For example, if you are searching for a COA associated with Sales Order 12345678, you would select Sales Order in the pull-down menu and enter 12345678 in the text box in the search page as demonstrated below.
After the search criteria are selected and desired value typed in, the search results will appear in the browser window. The results will be broken down into pages, each listing several result rows. It is possible to move from page to page by clicking Next and Previous links at the bottom of the table.
Initially, the results are sorted by date, listing the most recent one first. Re-sorting of the results can be done on each column in the table simply by clicking on the column header. Clicking again on the same column header will sort the results in the reverse order.
In each row of results, the lot number value is underlined as a hyperlink. By clicking on this link, the new browser window opens displaying the image of the CoA document.
When viewing a COA image, the image will come up in a separate browser window. If there is more than one page to the COA, all pages will be displayed within this one new window. If a printout of the COA is needed, one can be made using the print facility on the browser.
For Netscape users: When you click on a link to view a COA, a new Netscape window will open but this window itself will not display the image. Instead, Netscape starts up the Adobe Acrobat Reader program and the COA will come up in an Acrobat window. The COA can be viewed and printed from this window. To do this however, Netscape must be configured to display PDF files. Please see the Adobe web site for details on how this is done.
If you are searching by product description, ensure you have provided at least three letters of the description. Always ensure that the drop-down selection boxes are showing the correct search criteria.
Check that you have typed in your search query correctly. You may have mistyped your query or entered a value for which there is no COA. If you are searching by product description, try typing in less of the description to broaden your search.
If the search still returns no results, please contact your local branch of Univar Canada.
If you are retrieving a very large number of results with your query, you can try searching again by some other criteria. For example, if you know both the product description and the lot number, searching by lot number may produce a much shorter list of results than searching for the same COA by product description.
If you are searching by product description and need to narrow your search results, you can also try being more precise with your product description. If you only typed in the first three letters of the description, try entering a longer description to make the search more accurate.
For any query, if there is a large number of results then only the first 100 results will be displayed. (This number is determined by your system administrator). If there are more than 100 results of your search, a note at the bottom of the results screen will say so. In this case, it is advisable to narrow down the search criteria to reduce the number of results.
In cases of more than 100 results, the first 100 will be shown ordered by date. If the list is re-ordered then you may not get the same results in your list. For example, if there are 150 actual results to your query, then the results screen will display the first 100 of those, as ordered by date. If you then order by product description, you will get the first 100 of the 100 as ordered by product description. Any product descriptions which come first alphabetically but are very old (and hence were at the bottom of the date sorting) would not be in the initial query results but would appear in the re-ordered results.
If you cannot find the COA you are looking for with either sorting, try re-ordering again by some other attribute such as product number or sales order number. If you have gone through all of the different sorts and still can not find the COA you are looking for, contact your local branch of Univar Canada.
Your COA may not have been entered into the system yet. Contact your local branch.
